Parent and Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday  November 26th in the evening and Wednesday Nov. 27th in the morning. Mrs. Dougherty and your child’s teacher will send more information home regarding how to schedule conferences. It is beneficial when conferences are free of as many distractions as possible so we ask that you make arrangements for your younger children to remain at home.

Last Friday was a very special day here at SMS – we welcomed grandparents and special guests for Grandparents Day! Their presence in our school made the day very memorable for our teachers and students.  The grandparents and special guests had the opportunity to attend a beautiful mass, welcoming reception, to visit classrooms, get their photo taken with their grandchild  and  share stories.  It was wonderful to see the joy on the students’ faces as they spent time with their grandparents. This tradition  at SMS creates lasting memories that the children will cherish for years to come. This day wouldn’t be possible without the many volunteers who helped us that day: Tava Odom, Mandy Basile, Marie Schult, Nadira Duckett, Ashley Ross, Keesha Pinnock-Harvey, Shalia Lincoln, Lauren DeMaio, Shakira Christopher, and Chris Santo. Thank you for sharing your time and your talent with us! A special thanks goes out to Home and School Co-Chairs Beth Mirzai and Erica Santo who organized the event. We are extremely grateful for all their hard work, dedication and passion they bring to our school each day.

Thank you to everyone who came out last Saturday evening to support our Designer Bag Bingo 8th grade Fundraiser.

It was a ton of fun and a huge success! Our gym was filled with SMS parents and friends. There were many happy winners. A special thanks to the Bag Bingo coordinators, Michele DiRico and  Jackie McLaughlin. We also appreciate our Bingo Caller Mr. DiGiovanni and DJ Beth Mirzai for their help that evening.  Parents, if you did not get a chance to come this year, there is always next year. We will keep you posted when we pick a date in the fall.

Tuition Cares is a program from the Foundation for Catholic Education which generates a matching gift based on Pennsylvania Tax Credits of $1000 or more per participating parish or school family. Participants in Tuition Care will receive a 90% credit on their $1000 donation which means you will receive $900 back after completing your taxes and completing the necessary forms. There is a simple 5 step process to see if you are eligible to participate. Please contact SMS parent Mike Nolan at mnolan@janney.com or Anne Becker at info@smsnarberth.org with questions. The more families we have that participate in this program, the more money comes back to our school. This savings is passed on to all our SMS families in the form of a tuition credit in March 2025. Last year, each family received a credit of $250.

SMS is always in need of volunteers for Lunch Recess Duty, to volunteer as Homeroom parents and for HSA events, and as chaperones on Field Trips. We would like every member of our community to have the opportunity to volunteer and get more involved at SMS.

In order to do so, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia requires that all volunteers obtain the following clearances and training certificates:

1. Safe Environment Training (in person or on Zoom)
2. Mandated Reporter Training (video training)
3. PA Criminal Background Check
4. PA Child Abuse Clearance Check
5. EITHER a Signed Volunteer Disclosure Statement (if you have lived in PA for 10 or more CONTINUOUS years) OR FBI Fingerprinting (if you have NOT lived in PA for 10 or more CONTINUOUS years).

Please check out the links below to begin the process of obtaining these clearances and trainings. All paperwork should be handed in to Mrs. D at the Office. If you have any question or require assistance, please email sseal@smsnarberth.org and hsa@smsnarberth.org.
