Spirituality & Sacraments

St. Margaret School exists to impart our Catholic faith to our students and to draw students, families, and faculty closer to Christ. We want our students to know that God loves each one of them infinitely, exactly as they are, and because of that, they can always have hope. We strive to teach them what is good, and that even when they fail, they can be forgiven. We live our faith every day at St. Margaret School.

Daily Faith Practices

We start and end each day with a schoolwide prayer service led by our eighth-grade students. We also pray before snack time, before and after lunch, and before “special” classes. These moments of prayer are essential in helping our students build a personal relationship with God.

Sacramental Preparation

We prepare our students to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion, and Confirmation.

  • Reconciliation and First Holy Communion:

Our second graders are further initiated into the Church by receiving these sacraments.

  • Confirmation:

Our seventh graders deepen their commitment to the faith through Confirmation, after preparation that includes service activities and prayer in the sixth and seventh grades. Meaningful retreats also help our students prepare for these sacraments as they grow closer to Christ.

Monthly Schoolwide Masses

We celebrate schoolwide Mass each month during the school year. A different grade leads each Mass, selecting the readings, songs, and intercessions. Students are actively involved, participating in the entrance procession, serving as readers, and joining the offertory procession.

  • Choir and Altar Servers:

Children in grades 3-8 can sing in the choir, and students in grades 5-8 can serve as altar servers.

  • Reconciliation:

Students also have the opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation every three months. We encourage parents and guardians to attend and celebrate these liturgies with their children.

Liturgical Seasons & Celebrations

Our students learn about each liturgical season and fully celebrate the feasts and holidays.

  • October, Living Rosary
  • Thanksgiving Prayer Service & Creation Play 1st Grade
  • Advent Activities, Nativity Play 8th Grade & Nativity Plays: Prekindergarten & Kindergarten
  • Lent, Stations of the Cross weekly & Living Stations 6th Grade
  • May Procession & Crowning

Live Vertical

Through collaboration with Live Vertical, we are strengthening our community’s connection with Jesus Christ through the Eucharist.

  • Retreats:

Missionaries from Live Vertical lead retreats for faculty and students, introduce our students to powerful prayer through Eucharistic Adoration, and guide us to build a culture of evangelization and missionary discipleship within our school.

RCIA for Families

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process for adults to enter the Catholic Church. Parents and family members can attend RCIA through St. Margaret Parish.
